While I might be considered wealthy by some standards and I do enjoy kernel programming more than many other things I might do for a living, I've never been "independently wealthy" as that term is commonly used and what wealth I have is the result of kernel programming for profit. If I were independently wealthy, there's a long list of things I'd be doing on my own. Spelunking through somebody else's crappy kernel or parallel-filesystem code wouldn't be on that list, but it does pay the bills.

Another person you mention is Nick Vasilatos. While he's definitely weird, and by no means small, he's nowhere near 350 and he's still very much alive and kicking. Saw him just over a week ago, in fact. It's nice to hear about the old crew from someone else's perspective.

-----------------
[Wotta guy! -ed.]

noreply@blogger.com (Phineas J. Geils Band

Saw these guys playing on New Years 1971 at the (tiny) Stonehenge club in Ipswich. They knocked me out. Their first album was the first album I bought for my first stereo, a KLH. I remember playing their first album for some hippie friends of my older sister back in the early '70s and getting no respect. It's nice to see how well this album holds up after all these years when all that stupid hippie/psychedelic crap (Hendrix, Cream, Joplin, Dylan) has been consigned to the rubbish bin where it belongs.

It's also interesting to note that they were most popular in Motown (Detroit) and that Geils himself went on to focus his energies on high performance cars. This is totally apropos since his band played like a well oiled high-performance machine.

I also see they were the act they choose to open the new House of Blues on Landsdowne. Maybe Boston does have a soul after all.

I think Peter Wolf likes to hang out at that little diner on JFK street in Harvard Square next to that little park, Leo's Place.

I also saw Wolf on a talk show once talking about how he used to room with David Lynch back in the day and how square Lynch used to dress as compared to Mr. Hipster, Wolf. That was quite a hoot. Been thinking of Lynch's synthetic chickens a bit lately: "They're completely synthetic. But they're new!"

noreply@blogger.com (Phineas J. Nice people.

Actually I gave the 6 CDs that Cheapo wouldn't take to Alby (sp?) at In Yer Ear in Harvard Sq. Man is that guy a talker. He'll talk your ear off if you let him. Nice guy, though. From West Virginia originally. Hard to understand why anyone would prefer Mass. to West Virginia.

Feel a little naked now with no huge CD collection. Still have 8 gig/1850 MP3s left, though. I must be one of the last of the people to dump my CD collection in preference to MP3s.

noreply@blogger.com (Phineas J. Hard to imagine what kind of pathetic stranded-in-the-suburbs housewife connects with this rubbish. I will make it up to you, I prooooooooomise to. When I hear this grotesque chorus I just want to hurl myself off a bridge. And what's wrong with the singer's voice? Why does it sound that way? So weird and thin and reedy and unnatural? How can a real human relate to that kind of electronically treated voice? Disgusting.

noreply@blogger.com (Phineas J. To show his continuing tendency toward this kind of Nazi stuff: he has a German wife and he partakes in weekend WWII recreation events, on the German, i.e., Nazi, side. I'd like to smash his face to a bloody pulp. A real smart-ass little prick.

As of this post you can plainly see from his photos on his profile what a creepy, morbid, German oriented attitude he has.

noreply@blogger.com (Phineas J. What a jerk. Sharper than a serpent's tooth, indeed.

Ian certainly wouldn't want to live in a world without BMWs and motorbikes.

If he thinks that killing yourself to live a main-stream, middle-class life is "legitimate living" he's got another think comin'.

noreply@blogger.com (Phineas J. Hard to believe I actually bought the album when it came out. I can still remember the pic on the cover of that fetus-faces dweeb, McCartney, posing with his little sprog tucked into his coat. Nauseatingly saccharine. Would have been more honest if he'd just got his dick out and jacked off into our collective face. Putrid piece of shit.

noreply@blogger.com (Phineas J.
